The Sedona Method: The Art of Letting Go

The Sedona Method is an effective tool for releasing anxiety and tension, and for creating and maintaining a happier life. The method was developed in the 1960s by Lester Levenson, who had to face one of life's greatest challenges: a heart attack.

Lester Levenson's Story

In 1952, at the age of 42, Lester, a physicist and successful entrepreneur, was at the height of his worldly success, yet unhappy. His health problems worsened, and after he suffered a second heart attack, his doctors sent him home to his New York penthouse apartment - to die.

But Lester didn't give up. He decided to find the answer to the biggest question: What else is possible instead of death?

The Process of Letting Go

Lester began to ponder the meaning and purpose of life. As he browsed the books on his shelf—including Freud, Jung, and works on medicine, physics, and engineering—he realized that he couldn't find the answers he was looking for.

He noticed that his problems were created by his body, mind, and emotions. If these were the sources of suffering, then he could create a different reality through them. He began to transform his negative feelings, step by step.

The Secret of Happiness

Lester recalled his past happy moments and realized that in those moments he felt love. When he was unhappy, he usually suffered from a lack of love and expected others to make him happy. He began to practice replacing the feelings of hate with love.

He released every single negative feeling, whether it was within hours or minutes. In three months, he managed to let go of so much negativity that he experienced a light, happy state in which everything seemed beautiful.

The Effect of the Sedona Method

After three months of intense work, Lester healed himself and let go of all his negative thoughts and emotions. In the process of letting go, he reached a state of peace and tranquility that he had previously thought unimaginable.

He later began sharing his method with others. Over the next 43 years, he taught thousands of people how to achieve a fuller state of happiness through letting go.
